Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport in London

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport in London

Next stop during my trip was a short break in London. A visit in summer time was a must to see all the Arabs bringing their toys to town this year. Last year the London summer was highlighted by Lamborghini Murciélago LP670 SV’s in all sorts of colours. This year a few cars really stood out: The  most bizarre car this summer was the Mercedes-Benz FAB Design SLS AMG Gullstream, closely followed by the redesigned Maybach: Xenatec 57s Cruisero Coupe (both cars will feature on celsydney.com in the next few weeks!) and various Bugatti Veyrons, including this ultra rare Veyron Super Sport.

Now, if you thought the Bugatti Veyron was extreme (fastest production car in the world, anyone?) with 1,001hp, the Veyron Super Sport is soooo much more lethal with 1,200hp! The original Veyron has a top speed of 408 km/h and the Super Sport has a top speed of 431km/h but is limited to 415km/h to save the tyres.

Bugatti have stated that only 30 of the Super Sport’s will be produced.  the first five Super Sports will sport the same black and orange finish as the first production car, which was used to set the speed record. I spotted one of those five later in my trip in Paris, so stay tuned for those photos as well…

Now, the unique thing about the night shots below is that this Veyron was stopped by the London police as part of the crackdown on exotic car racers in London. Every summer there’s lots of complaints from residents about the noise that all the exotics make in London cruising around Knightsbridge and Harrods.

Many of the drivers, thought to include members of the Qatari royal family, come to the UK to escape the hot weather at home in the weeks before Ramadan.

During this crackdown the Bugatti owner got off lightly with a warning in regards to his front plate missing and his windows being too tinted. Other drivers weren’t so lucky, as you can see in the photos another Arab car, the Bentley Mulsanne was towed away by the police and a Ferrari driver was arrested for breaking a court order banning him from driving.

Have a look at the photos of this Bugatti Veyron Super Sports driving past Harrods in Knightsbridge and getting pulled over at night by the police before driving off with a warning:
