Tour de France 2011
Tour de France 2011
Back in July I took a quick break from photographing cars and spend an afternoon watching the finish of the Tour de France. Though it’s not very current, this was one of Australia’s sporting highlights of 2011 as Cadel Evans became the first Australian ever wins the prestigious Tour de France.
A good friend knew a good spot to watch the cyclist ride past on Rue de Rivoli right near the 1km-to-go spot. Rue de Rivoli is one of the most famous streets of Paris, the street runs along the north wing of the Louvre.
We had great views of all the cyclists as they did 8 laps in Paris before finally finishing on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. When they past us for the final time, we made our way to the Champs-Élysées to watch them do a final lap thanking everyone that came out to see them.
Have a look below at my photos, both taken at Rue de Rivoli and the Champs-Élysées featuring Tour-winner Cadel Evans, Alberto Contador, Frank & Andy Schleck, Samuel Sanchez in the polkadot jersey, Johnny Hoogerland and many more.
