Australian International Motor Show 2012
Today was the press day of the Australian International Motor 2012.
A big group of media gathered around the various unveilings, and some of the manufacturers put on a very good show. The most exciting one was the introduction at the Infiniti stand. Cirque Du Soleil put on a magical show in between the Infiniti range for its debut at the International Motor Show.
Hyundai got the help from professional boxer and waterskiing champion Lauryn Eagle, introducing the Veloster SR Turbo.
Another brand that was assisted by some athletes was Mitsubishi. They had a few Olympians unveil three of their new cars: James Magnussen, Sally Pearson and Mitchell Watt. Toyota did a pretty cool flashmob-type dance, showcasing years of Toyota history.
As it was all about the cars, one of my personal highlights was the Aston Martin One-77. Though boxed in a uninspiring plastic square, away from grabby little hands from the public, it wasn’t my favourite car to photograph today. I did spend a lot of time with it albeit from a small distance. I spent most my time with the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Lamborghini’s very interesting and limited car. I’l be posting some proper articles of both the Aston Martin One-77 and Lamborghini Sesto Elemento shortly, with lots more photos.
It is the last time the Sydney Motor Show is held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre as it will be completely redeveloped over the next couple of years. The next Sydney Motor Show will be held at Sydney Olympic Park in 2014.
