Premiere: Elysium in Sydney

Elysium Australian Premiere

The black carpet was rolled out last week for the Australian Premiere of Elysium at Event Cinemas George St in Sydney. Elysium is a new action thriller set in the year 2154 directed by Neill Blomkamp, director of break-out hit District 9 in 2009.

Special guests were Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, Ocean’s Eleven, Dogma) and Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team).

Matt Damon was as cool as I thought he would be spending lots of time with fans, signing and posing for photos. He was really enjoying himself and had a great time with Sharlot, joking around on the black carpet. Sharlto didn’t come alone to the premiere, he brought along his girlfriend and South African actress Tanit Phoenix.

Some of the local celebs walking the black carpet included Nikki Phillips, Glenn McGrath & Sara Leonardi, Lincoln YounesTimomaticNic Westaway, Robbie Farrah, Greg Inglis, Casey BurgessKiyomi Vella and more

The film:

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
