Premiere: Anchorman 2
It was a big day for Aussie red carpets with a big chunk of the main cast of Anchorman 2 attending the Australian Premiere in Sydney.
Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Aussie actor Josh Lawson and director Adam McKay all walked the burgundy carpet at Fox Studios.
Surprise guests of the day were Kristen Wiig who just walked the red carpet for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty a few days earlier, and Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, The Virgin Suicides). Both stars have a cameo in the film.
Will Ferrell and Steve Carell frequently fly down under as Will Ferrell was in Sydney in 2009 for Land of the Lost and last year for The Campaign. Steve Carell was in Sydney in 2011 for Crazy Stupid Love and earlier this year for Despicable Me 2.
The setup of the red carpet included cool props like a news desk with a weather screen, both unfortunately not really used by the cast.
With that many big stars attending it was no surprise the carpet turned into mayhem when all the actors joined in front of the media wall. Several local celebs had to skip the media wall and go straight into the cinema. Some of the local celebs I did see included Rove McManus, Demi Harman, Ray Martin, Layla Subritzky and more.

With the 70’s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking the country’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.
Anchorman 2 is in cinemas December 19.
