Supanova Pop Culture Expo Sydney 2014

Supanova Pop Culture Expo 2014

Since 2000 Supanova is the place to meet celebrities and creative talent from numerous TV shows, movies, online series, comic books and more. It’s a great event that is rapidly growing each year. This year the madness added an extra day as well as created more room in The Dome at Sydney’s Olympic Park.

With a bigger event you get more greatness but also more hassle unfortunately. This year you were better off getting your ticket at the venue as the entry line for prepaid ticket-holders seemed endless. Hopefully the organisation learns from this and creates a smoother system next year.

With a busy schedule this weekend I could only do media shots with the attending celebrities and sadly had to skip photographing the visitors in their epic costumes.

The star attraction this year was beyond doubt Marvel and comic book legend Stan Lee. At 91 years old he flew the long flight to Australia to give the Aussie fans something special. The queues for Stan Lee were just as epic as he is but the fans didn’t care, they got to meet a legend. For those that don’t know, Stan Lee is the genius that created Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four as well as hundreds of others.

Other guests attending Supanova 2014 were the cast of Star Trek Continues, Rose McGowan (Charmed, Scream, Nick/Tuck), George Lazenby (James Bond – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), Richard Kiel (Jaws in James Bond), WWE Diva Emma, Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory), Steve Bacic (Andromeda), Katie Cassidy (Arrow), Terry Malloy (Dr Who) and more.

That’s cool! I got to meet him, shake his hand and get my comic signed. No other cherry needed for my cake was fully served!
